Earlier today I posted my weekly inspirational quote on the Know No Limits Blog and this week I chose “To live an extraordinary life, you must resist an ordinary approach…” by Frank McKinney. I hadn’t initially made the connection but as I sit down to write the article it fits just perfectly.
One person who truly epitomises that quote, and the live untamed and unafraid ethos, is Adam Shepard. Adam recently dropped me a line and sent me a copy of his latest book to review. One of the practices that my clients find most valuable is setting a theme for the year, or part of the year? A bit like the Chinese have the ‘Year of the Dragon’, the ‘Year of the Tiger’ etc. I find it helps them get focused on where they are in their journey, what they want to achieve in the year ahead, and helps them stay motivated and committed. I’m writing this post from Geneva airport having just delivered 3 days leadership training in the French Alps for the Ski Club of Great Britain. It’s snowed for 3 days straight up in Tignes where the training course is taking place and I’m feeling quite reflective after a stunning bus ride back from the mountain past mountain streams, and snow covered trees and snowy French villages. It reminds me that despite challenging economics times and much turmoil in the world there is still much beauty and wonder to be thankful for. (more…)
